Quicksand Check is operated by Erica Rhodes ("we"). This policy explains what information our sites handle, where it goes, and your choices. The short version: the free tools keep your work in your own browser, and we do not sell personal information, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.
No account and no cookies. These tools do not ask for your name or email and do not set cookies.
Stored in your browser, not on our servers. Projects, checklist progress, saved projects, view settings, and the last location you checked are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. We cannot see them. Clearing your browser data, or using the planner's "Clear" option, deletes them.
Location checks go from your browser straight to public agencies. When you click a spot or type coordinates, your browser sends those coordinates directly to the public map services listed in section 4 (FEMA, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, USGS, the Census Bureau, the Bureau of Land Management, and the transmission-line service). Those services receive the coordinates and your IP address, as any website you visit would. The coordinates do not pass through our servers, with one exception, below.
Texas parcel lookup (the one exception). For points in Texas, your browser sends the coordinates to our server, which asks the Texas Geographic Information Office for the parcel at that point. The state's service returns every field in its records, including owner names and mailing addresses, so our server removes those fields and returns only acreage, the appraisal-district legal description, county, tax year, and the parcel outline. The coordinates travel in the body of the request, not the web address, and our server does not log or store them or anything it receives from the state.
Shared reports live in the link. A land report is stored entirely in its web address, after the "#" mark. Browsers do not send that part of an address to any server, so we never receive it. Anyone you give the link to can read its contents, including the location, so share it only with people you intend to.
Documents you choose to read with the planner. If you use the planner's document reader, the file is sent to our server function and then to Anthropic's AI service to pull out facts such as state, county, and project size. We do not keep a copy of the file; only the extracted facts are returned and saved in your browser. Anthropic processes the file under its commercial terms and privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal/privacy). The planner's county lookup similarly sends only the state, county, and project type to Anthropic. Do not upload documents you are not permitted to share with a service provider.
Salesforce. If you enter a Salesforce opportunity ID in the planner, our server reads that one record once to fill in the project. Nothing is written back to Salesforce and we do not store the record.
Sending a project to the workspace. "Send to permit workspace" places the project's basics, screened location, flags, and dates in the link's "#" portion, which opens the workspace. It is stored only if you keep the project there.

Sign-in cookie. The workspace sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is marked HttpOnly and Secure, is used only for sign-in, and is not used for tracking.
CIA reader. If you use the workspace's report reader, the report you upload is sent to Anthropic's AI service to extract findings, under Anthropic's commercial terms and privacy policy.
Guest mode. If you use the workspace without an account, your projects stay in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us.
Workspace data stays until you delete it. Deleting a project deletes its uploaded documents. To see, correct, export, or delete your account and everything in it, email email from the address on the account, and we will respond within a reasonable time. You can correct project details yourself at any time in the workspace.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security of the service.
We do not track visitors across other websites and do not allow third parties to do so on our sites, so we do not change our practices in response to browser Do Not Track signals.
Workspace files and accounts are kept in private storage that cannot be reached by direct link, passwords are hashed, and connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
These sites are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
California residents may request to review and correct the personal information we hold about them by emailing email. The same process is available to everyone.
When we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and post a notice on the site. For material changes affecting workspace accounts, we will also email account holders.
